Snap a Memory on a Wildlife Refuge

What if a Bird Sing's and No One Hear's It?

Dr. Robert Lewis Bacon
. We are sad to announce the passing of Dr. Bob Bacon at age 90, after a lengthy period of ill health. Bob was one of the first volunteers at Haystack Rock and was an original member of the “Puffin Club” which preceded the Haystack Rock Awareness Program. He was retired from the Medical School faculty at O.H.S.U., having been a mentor to many of our most capable Oregon physicians. Bob is probably best remembered as the driving force behind the 1967 “Beach Bill” which defined the Oregon public beaches at 16 feet above sea level at the vegetation line and halted business and commercial encroachment. Bob was an original advisor to the Friends Board who loved the beach and the Rock. He will obviously be missed but we can treasure the memories of his caring.
